Hiring for a Seasonal Ranger at Clear Lake Resort

CLASSIFICATION TITLE OF THE JOB: Seasonal Ranger, Clear Lake Resort, Willamette National Forest LOCATION:  Linn County Park System CLASSIFICATION NUMBER: N/A CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY: Seasonal Temporary, Non-Benefited Position working up to 40 hours per week; generally, three to six months in duration dependent on the needs of the department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Cleaning and stocking of cabins, restrooms, kitchen & lodge, to a high standard set by the department.
  • Garbage removal.
  • Starting and stopping of generators at required hours; fueling generators in a joint effort with other staff.
  • Cleaning of park grounds; maintaining trails; maintaining boat docks and boat launch area.
  • Must be able to operate Point of Sale System; make change and balance register; operation of reservation system.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with management, park rangers, co-workers and visitors
  • Maintain proper logbooks; prepare reports and provide public information to park visitors.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of rowboats and kayaks.
  • Must provide excellent customer service to park patrons; must be able to assess and resolve complaints appropriately; must be friendly, conscientious and responsible.
  • Collect camping and day use fees; maintain proper logbooks.
  • Patrol parks on foot; assist with code compliance.
  • Report issues with equipment during off-hours to ranger staff.
  • Previous restaurant experience is desirable but not required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable work attendance; be proactive; self-starter.
  • Other duties assigned to accomplish department needs.
 JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively: park rules, area information, and educate park visitors.
  • Ability to follow directions, manage multiple tasks to parks standards and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform general maintenance to park buildings and facilities; perform janitorial services, including the use of chemicals.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be available to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; work shifts may vary.
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive forward and overhead reaching.  Ability to lift/carry 50lbs. and push objects weighing up to 90lbs; ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing to live and work in a remote location.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Food Handlers Card and First Aid/AED card.
 QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a graduate from a senior high school or have your GED; possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and pass a criminal background check. Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire. SALARY, BENEFITS, COMPENSATION: This is a Seasonal Temporary, Non-Benefited Position; $18.50 per hour; furnished housing will be provided, for your designated work shifts, at no cost to you.
