Linn County Parks & Recreation Spring 2018 Newsletter

Happy Spring!

Thanks for keeping in touch with Linn County Parks. This Spring 2018 Newsletter will help you plan your summer enjoyment of your county parks.

A Closer Look At . . . Weddings and Other Events in Your Linn County Parks

Linn County Parks has several venues that have hosted many weddings, both day-use and overnight camping weddings. So if you’re interested in knowing more about this possibility, read on! Our facilities are also great for graduation parties, family reunions, company picnics or any other use where you would be bringing together a group of people.

Our parks facilities aren’t as well-known as other wedding venues around the state, so there’s a good chance of some of our facilities being available at the time that you want them. That said though, to be sure to get the facility you want at the time you want it, make your reservation as early as you can. As the season progresses the reservation schedule will fill up. Our facilities can be reserved up to a year in advance. To reserve, we’ll ask you to fill out special use permit which is a simple checklist type form to let us know what you’re planning.

To learn more about having a wedding or other group event in a Linn County Parks venue, read this article, “A Closer Look At . . . Weddings and Other Events in Your Linn County Parks.”

Expansion of Whitcomb Creek is Now Complete

We first told you in fall of 2017 that when Whitcomb Creek closed for the winter that it was being expanded and improved. Now the time has come for you to visit the park and see the changes in person!

The Whitcomb Creek campground is located on Green Peter Reservoir. Prior to the work we’ve done over the course of last year, there was a 4-unit campground there. Now it’s more than doubled to approximately 90 sites. At the time of this newsletter, the last of the signage is being installed and the campground will be fully operational by summer. We are taking reservations for all sites now. The best way to reserve a newly expanded site at Whitcomb Creek is to call our office at 541-967-3917.

Read more about the changes to the campground in our “A Closer Look at Whitcomb Creek” article.
